  4. Motivation • The frequency regulation has a close relationship with LPWA payload size and media access scheme. • The Sub-GHz band regulation varies from country to country. • Regulations of unlicensed sub-GHz band in KOREA were changed. • MSIP* regulation 2016-102 (September30.2016) * (Korea Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning)

  5. Available frequency bands in Korea Increase the maximum effective radiated power 917 MHz ~ 923.5 MHz New allocation 262 MHz ~ 264 MHz, 940 MHz ~ 946.3 MHz MSIP* Regulations 2016-102 (September30.2016) * (Korea Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning) Slide 5

  6. 917 MHz ~ 923.5 MHz(1/2) • Center frequency • Maximum effective radiated power

  7. 917 MHz ~ 923.5 MHz(2/2) • Output control • Case 1) Frequency hopping • Use at least 16 or more non-duplicated channels • Maximum hopping time : 0.4 sec • Case 2) LBT AFA • Carrier sense 5ms or more • at -65dBm or less • Sending duration : 4sec or less • Pause duration : 50ms or more • Case 3) Duty cycle limitation • ~ 10mW : Below 2% in 20sec duration • 10mW ~ 25mW : Below 1% in 40sec duration • 25mW ~ : Below 0.5% in 80sec duration

  8. New allocation • Frequency band : 262 MHz ~ 264 MHz • Max. ERP : 100mW • Max. channel bandwidth : 200kHz • Duty cycle limit. : 1 % • Frequency band : 940.1 MHz ~ 946.3 MHz • Max. ERP : 200mW • Duty cycle limit. : 0.1% / hour

  9. Summary In KOREA, three Sub-GHz frequency bands are available for LPWA 917 MHz ~ 923.5 MHz IEEE802.15.4g, IEEE802.15.4k LBT AFA (ex. LoRaWAN 1.02) 262 MHz ~ 264 MHz, 940.1 MHz ~ 946.3 MHz bands Newly assigned frequency bands Duty-cycled limited transmissions Slide 9
