SRB Release 4 Production Schedule • Sep – Dec 2011: • Meteorological Data sets: • Write codes to read & process new ISCCP T/Q/Tskin data set (from NCDC HIRS Analysis) • Evaluate against Reanalysis (MERRA, ERA) • Compare diurnal cycles against NCDC surface measurement • ISCCP Radiance and Cloud data sets • Read evaluate both HXS (and/or HXG) and HGG • Compare old and new radiance/cloud fields • Jan – Mar 2012: • Baseline Run: • Run Release 3 algorithms with new inputs for selected years • Compare and assess differences between Release 4 Baseline, Release 3.0 data sets and BSRN/CERES • Complete implementation improvements to algorithms & repeat test runs => compare to Rel 4 baseline 22th GEWEX GRP Meeting

SRB Release 4 Production Schedule • Apr – Aug 2012: • 1x1 Degree • Begin full-scale production at 1x1 degree • Evaluate surface fluxes against Release 3, 4B and BSRN • Evaluate TOA fluxes against CERES • 0.5 x 0.5 Degree • Begin production for 1998 forward • Compare to coarse resolution version • July 2012 – Oct 2012 • Archive new data sets • Provide browse and other viewing/subsetting access via web applications • Documentation 22th GEWEX GRP Meeting

GEWEX SRB: Summary Status • GEWEX SRBRel 3: 24 year climatology TOA and surface radiation at 1ox1o. • Documentation improved; paper submission in the next month • Validation, analysis and collaborative activities crucial to assessing and improving the data set are continuing • GEWEX RFA report remains key focus (presentation tomorrow) • GEWEX SRB Rel 4: • Input data improvements for: ISCCP “H”, met. inputs, aerosols and surface characteristics in collaboration w/ ISCCP Team • Algorithm improvements: ADM’s, RT updates, time and space averaging to be pursued in collaboration w/ ISCCP Team, Umd, and CERES teams • Goal: reprocess SRB in entirety startingApril 2012 following ISCCP reprocessing and algorithm improvements. • Funding Continued Via Proposal (due Sept.) 22th GEWEX GRP Meeting
