  4. Activate Prior Knowledge 1. What does the word home mean? 2. What are some things a home should have? 3. Have you ever seen homes that look different from where you live? 4. How were they different?

  5. Vocabulary 1. Strays – a form of the verb stray: to wander away. 2. dwelling – a place to live 3. reflections – plural of reflection 4. reflection – the image in a mirror, glass, pond, or puddle 5. germs – a cause of disease

  6. A House is a House for Me By Mary Ann Hoberman Houses and homes, large and small, are celebrated in this rhyming story. Focus Questions Why do people and animals need houses? Do nonliving things need houses too? Stop and Read

  7. Besides animals and people, name some things that have houses that surprised you? What animals make their homes in a hole? Discussion If you look, where can you find houses? Have you read or heard other stories about where people or animals live? Do people and animals need houses? Do nonliving things need houses too?

  8. Concept / Question Board Brainstorm ideas of things to put on the Home, Sweet Home board. Make a list of different types of homes to put on the board.
