  1. Allan DeMello Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory MICE Coupling Coil Cryostat Update MICE CM37 at RAL, UK November 6, 2013

  2. Status of Coupling Coil Cryostat • Cryostat Vacuum Vessel • LBNL mechanical shop is fabricating the first cryostat vacuum vessel • Scheduled to finish the 2ndweek of December • Thermal Shield • Drawings have been finished at LBNL and need to be reviewed by the LBNL superconductor group • LBNL mechanical shops will fabricate the first thermal shield • Cooling Circuit • Drawings will be generated by LBNL • LBNL mechanical shops will fabricate the cooling circuit parts • LBNL will assemble components into sub-assemblies

  3. Coupling Coil Coupling coil magnet integrated into the RFCC RFCC Module

  4. Coupling Coil Sub-assemblies

  5. LBNL mechanical shop is in the process of fabricating the first cryostat vacuum vessel • Estimated completion early December 2013 • Drawings will be updated to reflect the “as built” cryostat Coupling Coil Cryostat Vacuum Vessel

  6. Remaining Tasks • Thermal shield design is nearly complete • SINAP drawings are finished and will be reviewed by the LBNL superconductor group • LBNL shops will fabricate the first thermal shield Coupling Coil Thermal Shield

  7. Cooling Circuit Assembly • Remaining Tasks • LBNL superconductor group will finalize the cooling circuit design • Create detail fabrication drawings • Fabrication of component parts at LBNL • Assemble components into sub-assemblies for shipment to Fermilab
