  1. Boot Camp 101(Pack Up & Ship Out Your Civies- Put On Your Uniform!) New Year 2014

  2. “For we shall all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ - So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.” Romans 14:10c, 12. “Each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.” I Corinthians 3:13 (cf. vs. 11-15).

  3. Hebrews 3:7 – 4:16 The Faith-Rest Life 5) Witnessing (4:14) – The duty of ALL Christians. “Hold fast” – present active subjunctive of krateō– to have power; to take hold of, take, seize; to cling tenaciously. “Confession” – homologia (from homologeō– to say the same thing as another; to profess; to declare openly; to speak out freely. 6) Testing (4:15) – this rest involves constant testing! Muscles are built up by testing, & remain strong & useful through continual testing.

  4. Hebrews 3:7 – 4:16 The Faith-Rest Life Faith-Rest must be tested to grow strong - & IT IS TESTED!!! When the bottom falls out of things – will you: • Continue to trust the Lord? • Continue to depend on Him? • Continue to trust His Word? • Continue to claim the promises of God’s Word? • Continue to rest in Him? Or live in Panic Palace?! These tests are all to help us grow strong in Him & to lay claim to all the wonderful provisions He gives us for every situation or circumstance of life.

  6. Hebrews 3:7 – 4:16 The Faith-Rest Life 7) Prayer (4:16) – Face-to-face with God Grace is not earned. Mercy is grace in action. “Come” – present middle subjunctive of proserchomai– approach face-to-face – we are to do this “without ceasing.” “Boldly” – with fearless confidence & cheerful courage. “Casting all your care on Him, for He cares for you.” I Peter 5:7 Grace – The Attitude Mercy – The Action Peace – The Result

  7. Ephesians 6:17 The Helmet of Salvation “Take” – aorist active imperative of dechomai– to receive; to welcome. This piece of armor calls for a special attitude – it is especially heavy until we get used to it. “Helmet” – perikephalia– (peri– around & kephalē– head). As the most vulnerable part of the human anatomy, the head requires special protection. The dense structure of the skull provides natural armor for normal conditions, but added protection is needed in combat – the helmet protects the head from sustaining injury in battle.

  8. Ephesians 6:17 “of salvation” – There are 3 phases to salvation: Phase #1 – Salvation past (Spirit) – relates us to the 40+ spiritual assets every believer receives at the point of salvation. Phase #2 – Salvation present (Soul – mind & heart) – utilization of these assets in our daily lives. Salvation from the power of sin in this present life (Romans 6:6). Salvation as a present experience of the Lord’s deliverance of believers as those who are engaged in spiritual conflict. Salvation as a process of being changed into the image of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  9. Ephesians 6:17 Phase #3– Salvation Future (Body) - from the presence of sin – resurrection body. Each part of the Roman helmet is analogous to some facet of salvation: Skin lining – emphasizes the work of Christ on the cross Redemption – toward sin. Reconciliation – toward man. Propitiation – toward God. Bronze helmet – bronze is used in connection with Divine manifestation in judgment. Bronze as an alloy of copper & tin is analogous to the uniqueness of Christ – the Hypostatic Union & all that it implies.

  10. Ephesians 6:17 Chin strap – portrays the eternal security of every believer in union with Christ.
