  2. Subject pronouns…. • Indicate who is being described or who does the action in a sentence I = Yo You (familiar) = Tú He = Él She = Ella You (formal) = Usted (Ud.) We = Nosotros(as) You (fam & plur) = Vosotros(as) They = Ellos They (female only) = Ellas You (form & plur) = Ustedes (Uds.)

  3. SER = to be (to identify a person; to say where a person is from) *Yo – soy *Nosotros – somos *Tú – eres *Vosotros – sois *Él, ella,- es *Ellos, ellas - son usted (Ud.), ustedes (Uds.)

  4. De = of, from, about • Soy de Watertown. • ______________________________ • Somos de los Estados Unidos. • ______________________________ • Ellos son de la Republica Dominicana. • ______________________________

  5. Gustar + infinitive • Gustar = to like, to be pleasing • Infinitive = verb not conjugated, in English: to + verb, in Spanish: one word, verb always ends in either AR, ER or IR

  6. Gustar = to like, to be pleasing • Me gusta – I like • Te gusta – You like • Le gusta – He likes, she likes, you like • Nos gusta – We like • Os gusta – You (plur) like • Les gusta – They like, you (plur) like

  7. Now add the infinitive • Me gusta correr. ________________________________ • Te gusta jugar. ________________________________ • Nos gusta leer. ________________________________
