  1. 5 ways to support your Child to choose the Right Career Path“Children are the World’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future” --John F Kennedy

  2. During the school life, most of the children will always have some kind of interests and ambition. • But the majority of them will not follow their ambition when they grew up. • Finally, they end up in careers they don’t like and spend years on a degree they won’t even use. • Here are some tips which will help you in supporting your child to find a career.

  3. Help your child discover their strengths and passions • Our children are unique individuals with their own interests. • Help them to discover their interesting area/field. • Do visit to career counsellor to take aptitude tests. • Building a great understanding of your child’s innate strengths. • Figure out what lights them up.

  4. Help find a mentor for your child • Encourage your child to find a inspiring mentor in the filed your child shows more interest. • This will definitely fuel your child’s aspirations about their career. • Help your child to find an inspiring, positive and encouraging role model.

  5. Expose your child to a variety of activities to see what piques their interest. • There are a lot of interesting activities going on in your child’s school besides academics. • Expose them to music, arts, sports, nature, animals, science, museums, people interactions, travel and so on. • Support them to learn more about the area which they are curious or they are showing more interest and excitement.

  6. Resist treating your child as an extension of you • Admit that your child’s likes and dislikes will never be the same as yours. • They are not you! • The things that you might find interesting about a certain job might not be interesting for your child.

  7. Be patient and encouraging and set an example as you for your children. • As a parent, be an example for your children in doing what you enjoy. • If they find an example in you, they will also feel like it’s possible for them to find a career they love and enjoy. • Always support your child and remind them that it’s a long process and experimenting in finding a job you love.

  8. CONCLUSION • So as a parent, why can’t we help them figure out what they want to do from a young age? • During their career choosing time, their brains are still developing and so their plans might change, but still, they used to think about the future. • Let’s motivate our children to set up their future themselves.
