  2. Statement of objective • Students will learn how to care for eyes and describe different eye problems • Students will continue to work in groups on Restaurant project

  3. Eye Problems • Astigmatism - an irregular curvature of the lens or cornea causing blurred vision. • Nearsightedness - distant objects appear blurred while close objects are clear.

  4. Eye Problems • Farsightedness - Close objects appear blurred while distant objects are clear. • Color Blindness - a condition in which a person sees colors differently than other people.

  6. Pinkeye an inflammation of the membranes covering the white of the eye or eyelid. Caused by bacteria, and spreads from one person to another

  7. Ways to care for your eyes • Get regular eye exams • Avoid eyestrain by sitting at least 6 feet from the TV • Do not rub or scratch the eye if something get in it • Wear sunglasses & a visor to protect your eyes.

  8. Ways to care for your eyes • Apply an ice-cold compress & see a doctor when there is a blow to the eye. • Place a lamp so that it shines on school books when doing homework • Wear safety glasses for sports when there is risk of eye injury

  9. Ways to care for your eyes • Don’t touch the eye. • Use tissue when wiping away excretions. • Don’t share washcloths and towels.
