Objectives of the course • To get acquainted with: • database management systems, • distributed database systems, • data warehouses, and • XML databases. • To provide a hands-on experience with Oracle database software. • To present the way the advanced topics of databases are taught at PJIIT. • To exchange views how to teach advanced topics of databases.

  3. Topics of the course • Relational database model. • Architecture of a relational database management system. • SQL Database Language. • Distribution of data in the network. • Distributed databases. • Extracting and integration of information coming from many databases – data warehouses. • XML data model. • Storing XML data in a database.
