  1. Primary Research Results • By Lauren Kilvington

  2. Aim & Purpose The purpose of this questionnaire is to determine the wants and needs of my audience so I can feature these answers into my final magazine. I will be taking in my audiences preferences and adapt them to my final magazine to satisfy my target audience

  3. Methodology I chose to create a questionnaire as my primary research because I wanted a variety of audience answers to narrow down my final design. I think a questionnaire is the easiest and quickest way of primary researching because you don’t have to set up a time and date like a focus group, you can do it anytime anywhere in a public area.

  4. Results - Audience Profiling The majority of people I asked for my questionnaire lived in the Harlow area and were my target audience age. They were mostly full time students or students with part time work. I asked fifteen people overall and there were more women than men; my target audience is both genders between the ages of 16 and 20.

  5. Results - Audience Preferences The people I asked were mostly interested in Rock and Metal. This is the genre of music i want for my audience and I will be adapting the audiences needs into my magazine. The preferred price for my magazine was £1-£2 so I will be making my magazine £2 to suit my audiences wants and still make a profit. Most of audience enjoyed the Kerrang! magazine so I will be basing my final magazine on Kerrang! The features my audience preferred are ‘interviews with bands/artist’ and ‘a day in the life of...’ I will be featuring these articles in my magazine to satisfy my audience. The people I questioned mostly liked the idea of having the magazine released every week so I will be adding that to my final magazine.

  6. Results - Audience Cover Preference The audience I questioned preferred the magazine to be humourous, friendly and sarcastic so I will adapt this to suit my audiences needs. The typography my audience preferred was option 6 so I will be using this for my title of the magazine. The audience preferred the NME magazine cover because of the image which was the band Paramore with Hayley Williams at the front. I will be adding someone like this to the front of my cover so it satisfies my audience.

  7. Conclusion The majority of the people I questioned were between 16- 25 and enjoyed listening to rock or metal music. They mostly liked the Kerrang! Magazine but enjoyed the image of the NME magazine best. Theywould prefer the magazine to be released every week and would like the language to be humourous and friendly. The typography they liked the most was option 6 [ ]. The most preferred price was £1-£2. They most popular feature they liked was ‘Interviews With Bands/Artists’.

  8. Proposal Overall I will make my final magazine design a rock metal magazine with a similar layout to the Kerrang! and NME magazines I displayed. I will be using the information gathered from the questionnaire to create my final magazine design. I will be having a humourous friendly language throughout the magazine. It will be releasing the magazine once a week. I will be using the option 6 typography for my title because my audience questionnaire has shown that this is the most popular typography. The majority of people I asked were my target audience of 16 - 20 year olds so I will be taking in and adapt their suggestions.
