Special Application Scanners BWR Core Shroud Manipulator Scanner for examination of the vertical and circumferential butt-welds of the core shroud and of the circumferential weld between the upper flange and the mantel of the core shroud. Scanning at water depths down to 25 metres and under very high radiation. The motor modules were tested at a radiation level of 1.7 kGy/h to an accumulated dose of 0.5-1 Mgy without functional problems. A 3D graphical visualisation of the scanner together with the reactor vessel and the core shroud was established on a RobCad workstation.
