  20. I Praise My God and Savior Introduction: After David had personally given an offering for the building of the temple, he appealed to the people to give, which they willingly and generously did. Seeing their response, he “praised God”. We have so much to praise God our Savior for. Just the fact that we are able to be here means he has allowed us to breathe and live. The Mien in US should be the most thankful people on the face of this earth. When we recognize God’s goodness to us, that everything we have comes from Him, there should be an automatic response of praise, thanksgiving and recognition of who He is. Today the Mien are at a crossroad. We need God to preserve our people, to direct our hearts back to Him. We need to bow low and give Him praise and worship.

  21. I Praise My God and Savior A. “We Bless You, God” (v. 10-12) 1. We need to praise Him both privately and publicly. We need to bless (praise) the LORD in the sight of all people, just as David did. 2. We need to bless Him for His complete control over the universe - His great power as Master over all. 3. We bless Him because we recognize, as David did, that the riches and honor we enjoy comes from God’s generosity. James 1:17 says “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights…” 4.Today we must acknowledge our LORD as David acknowledged Him - Jehovah Jireh - the One who provides (Gen. 22:14).

  22. I Praise My God and Savior B. “We Thank You, God”(v.13-15) 1. The Psalmist said, “It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to His name” (Psalms 92:1). David thanked the Lord! 2. Thankfulness should characterize the Christian life in every circumstance; not thanks for everything but thanks in everything. Paul emphatically stated that this is the will of God“in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thess. 5:8). 3. Paul’s life was a life of thanksgiving (1 Cor. 15:57; 2 Cor. 2:14,9:15; Eph. 5:20; Col. 1:3,3:17;1 Thess. 1:2,5:8). 4. Job’s example: Even though he lost his money, children, and health, he blessed the name of God in spite of his personal tragedies.

  23. I Praised My God and Savior C. “We Give to you, God” (v.14, 16-17) 1. The offerings David and his people made were possible only because God had given to them first. “But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You” (v.14) … Not only does the ability to give, but the willingness to give, a gift of God (2 Cor. 9:7-8) … 2. Why does God ask His people to give? God enjoys a person’s uprightness. With gifts, offerings, and sacrifices, a person tangibly demonstrates gratitude to God and trust in Him. 4. David set an example by his willingness to give with no other motive other than thankfulness. 4. David’s joy was heightened when he saw that his people understood this principle of true giving(v.17).

  24. I Praise My God and Savior D. “We Ask of you, God”(v.18-19) 1. David asked God to direct his peoples’ hearts to God - to always fear Him and obey His will (v.18). 2. David prayed that God would give his son Solomon a loyal heart to be obedient to God’s commandments (v.19). This should be every father’s prayer. 3. David asked God to help his son keep his pledge to build the temple. 4. We have not because we ask not (James 4:2). Yet when we ask God, be careful what and how you ask Him.

  25. I Praise My God and Savior E. “We Bow down to you, God” (v.20) 1. They assembled together and blessed the LORD. They bowed low and worshiped reverently in the presence of God. 2. They worshiped, bowing low or bowing the knees, but that is not as important as the heart. When the heart is right, its gesture may be an expression of reverence, humility, and submission. 3. Have you truly bowed your heart, mind, and soul to Him in submission, in worship, and in thankfulness? 4. Because of what Christ has done “so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth” (Phil. 2:10).

  26. Application of Principle to Practice: 1. Twenty-four elders said,“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created”(Rev. 4:11). 2. We praise Him, we thank Him, and we give to Him. We ask of Him, and we bow to Him because He is worthy. We recognize and acknowledge who He is, because everything is His and because He is the sustainer of our life. 3. Christians should be the most thankful people. It is good to give thanks, not thanksfor everything but thanks in everything. 4. When we ask God, be humble, be biblical, and be mindful of who you are talking to. Ask according to His will, His word, and His way. We can always praise our Savior Jesus for what he has done for us.
