  2. U.S. GOVERNMENT • The government of the United States is based upon a written Constitution. The Constitution went into effect on March 4, 1789.

  3. The Constitution establishes three branches of government: 1. LEGISLATIVE - makes the laws 2. EXECUTIVE – executes the laws 3. JUDICIAL – interprets the laws

  4. EXECUTIVE BRANCH • The President of the United States is the leader of the Executive branch. In January of 2009 my mom, dad, and sister attended the inauguration of the current President of the United States, BarackObama.

  5. Inaugural Events: • The day before the inauguration, my family attended the “Speaker’s Cabinet Luncheon” where they personally met the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, Rob Emanual who was later named White House Chief of Staff, and Mike Ross, U.S. Congressman from the State of Arkansas.
