NGI Sustainability indicators for the 2-nd project year • General remarks on the Progress report content: • It is focused on received contribution per country on NGI indicators • Partners not being able to provide their contributions before are invited to report during the meeting • Should be considered as un updated version of the report for the PSC05 meeting • Additional information reported for September – November period is presented in Italics for both achieved results and updates to the 2nd project year plan • This cumulative document is intended as the main input for the second version of D2.3 deliverable • Statistics are presented at the end on the addressed NGI Indicators from both planning and achieved results perspectives • The Further Work section of the report includes WP2 open positions in the AP Register SEEGRID PSC 06 Meeting – Sarajevo, 22.11.2007 2

Albania • Plan for the 2-nd project year • NGI setup and recognition • The launch of NGI is planned for September 2007 • National-level projects • Several proposals would be submitted to Ministry of Education and Science, regarding both Grid infrastructure and applications • Other sources of funding in grid area including related projects • The support is expected from bilateral and regional (SEE-ERA.NET) projects • Expansion of national infrastructure • Extension of existing sites (INIMA, FIE, FNS), and inclusion of new sites (FECO and universities of Elbasani and Shkodra) • Expansion to new applications and user communities • Expansion into new domains, such as meteorology and seismology SEEGRID PSC 06 Meeting – Sarajevo, 22.11.2007 4

Croatia • Plan for the 2-nd project year (cont): • Industrial cooperation • Ericsson Nikola Tesla, CRO GRID related contracted relationship; IBM Hrvatska; interested industrial and other entities • Technical independence i.e. national-level services • Improved Grid services at the national level • Implementation of organisational mechanisms and production infrastructure maintenance procedures • Functionality and performance expansion and optimisation: • Expansion of national infrastructure • The infrastructure will be expanded as the needs arise. • Plans are being made to establish CRO GRID National Grid Infrastructure in a similar way as by CARnet (no formal document, but strict rules). Hungary • Report on May-November 2007: • NGI organization and Consortium expansion • Additional JRU established with 3 members in total: DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY at ELU and SEISMOLOGICAL OBSERVATORY of GGRI • The current JRU has been formed by two smaller application developer/user teams and one team that deals with grid development, operation, support, and training. This 'satellite' JRU will exploit the nationwide Grid resources (operated by the another HGCC JRU) together with other international resources for a specific purpose, namely for applications in the field of seismology and meteorology. • the Hungarian Grid Competence Center (HGCC), involving the key and most experienced Grid players from Hungary, has launched the National Grid Initiative and intends to become the national reference point. • HGCC establish another JRU. • SZTAKI is member in both JRUs • The management of two separated JRUs with different objectives (instead of one heterogeneous JRU) and with different leaders seems to be more feasible. Montenegro • Plan for the 2-nd project year: • NGI organization and Consortium expansion, NREN cooperation • Increase number of MGI members • eInfrastructure national strategy • First draft of the national Grid strategy will be written and presented in for approval by the Ministry of Education and Science. • Promote the national Grid strategy and work on its implementation • Other sources of funding in grid area including related projects • Search for additional sources of funding, especially from industry. • Industrial cooperation • Dissemination of information about Grid technology among IT and other industry in Montenegro.
