Mobile Ticketing Mobile Ticketing leverages on mobile phone penetration to purchase daily, monthly and platform tickets for local trains via toll-free SMS which in turn makes local train travel comfortable and convenient by reducing long queues before ticket counter which saves commuter's valuable time.

  3. Need What we are addressing? • We are addressing to simplify print ticketing and reduce long queues. • A commuter spends an average of 11 minutes waiting in queue before ticket counter. Even worse in rush hours. • Human resources in ticket counters and automatic ticket vending machines serve the purpose currently. What are the benefits of Mobile Ticketing? • Comfort of booking your ticket with your mobile phone. • Saves valuable time spent in waiting before ticket counter and no last minute tensions. More comfort and convenience to commuters. • It is Environmental Friendly! No paper and print cartridge wastage. Target customers • Possible target customers are local train commuters having a mobile phone. • Businesses who want to source ads through ticket confirmation SMS.

Competition • This is a pioneering product. • Traditional ticket counters and automatic ticket vending machines are some alternatives. • Monthly pass holders. They can become target customers as we serve monthly tickets too.

Value Proposition • Centralized SMS server/gateway allowing ticket booking through a toll-free SMS. • Billing done directly from customer’s phone balance, via respective operator support. • Ticket confirmation SMS take the place of printed ticket. • Each ticket confirmation SMS is sourced with a contextual ad. Big Picture • Phase 1 : Cover Hyderabad MMTS, Chennai MRTS. • Phase 2 : Cover Delhi Metro and Mumbai Suburban trains. • Phase 3 : Expand to all major cities and upcoming Metro Systems. Publicity • Cooperative publicity in Indian Railways premises and particularly at ticket counters. • Smart publicity in Social media like Facebook, Orkut, Twitter etc.

Required Roles • Marketing team of 4 who are well versed with dealing Railway projects and have ad-sourcing background. • Project Manager who is well versed with Indian railways projects. • Server Administrator to maintain ticket server – this can be outsourced or maintained along with Indian Railways. • Team of 8 developers to develop supporting software.

Business Model Partnership • Indian Railways is the natural partner. • We need Indian Railways support to execute it. • Local ad sources like JustDial and Google to source ads • Phone manufactures who want to embed this service into their phone models. • People buy phones that book tickets ! Pricing • Same as paper ticket. This makes it equal alternative. Revenue • Share revenue with Indian Railways from each ticket sold • Average of 20 Paisa per ticket. (Approximate estimates) • Share revenue on costs saved from paper and print cartridge. • Revenue from text ads with every ticket response SMS. • Average of 25 Paisa per ticket. • Revenue from ads in mobile apps using this service. • Share revenue on each phone sold which is embed with this service.

Funding Requirements Operational costs (Approximate estimations) • Maintain SMS Server and salaries. • Annual cost of Rs. 6.5 million • Huge chunk goes for marketing team as we need talented team to deal with Indian Railways and ad sources. • Publicity costs • Annual cost of Rs. 1.5 million – cooperative publicity with Indian Railways and Social Media usage reduces publicity costs. • No huge infrastructure costs required. What we are looking in an Investor? • Apart from seed funding we want more contacts with Indian Railways. • Good mentor.
