JENNY’S STORY. My name is Jenny, I was born in Vietnam. I lived in a big city. I completed my high school and HSC in 1978. I did a business course for one year in a c ollege in Saigon. Then after I completed this course, I started looking for work. I left school when I was 19 years old.

  2. My name is Jenny, I was born in Vietnam. • I lived in a big city. • I completed my high school and HSC in 1978.

  3. I did a business course for one year in a college in Saigon. • Then after I completed this course, I started looking for work. • I left school when I was 19 years old.

  4. I couldn’t find a job so stayed home and looked after my family. • Then my father decided to open his own business as a newsagent. With my education, he gave me a job and I worked as a secretary for 5 years.

  5. I married my husband in 1983. • Later we went from Vietnam to Australia together. • On my arrival at Sydney, Australia, I felt comfortable, seeing different people and different nationalities, all very friendly and helpful.

  6. I stayed in a hostel at Maroubra. • I started to learn English for six months in the hostel until my English was better. • I moved out to find a place for my family. • I quickly settled down in Australia.

  7. We bought a house in the Wiley Park area. • I had two children. I needed to stay home to look after my children. • My husband ran a business on his own as a dressmaker for ten years. • I also helped my husband to run a business while my children grew up.

  8. In 2006 I took a rest and spent two months travelling back to my country Vietnam and Thailand. • While I stayed home to look after my children, I felt bored. • I decided to go back to school.

  9. I did a course in aged care. • Now I am working as part time in aged care. • Also I am studying an ABE course at Bankstown TAFE College. • I am very happy to get on with my life. • By JENNY DUONG.
