  3. Historically Controversial Topics • Circumcision/ Old Law – Acts 15:1,2; Galatians 2:4,5 • Gnosticism – 2 John 7-11; Jude 3,4 • Missionary Societies & Other institutions – 1 Timothy 3:15; Hebrews 7:14

What if we attempt to please the majority & teach what most will accept? • Even That will be Controversial to those who contend earnestly for the faith (Jude 3) • What should we do? • Impossible to avoid teaching controversy • Two Options: • Teach what is Controversial • Quit Teaching • Cannot Quit - (1 Timothy 3:15; 1 Peter 3:15)

  8. We Must Be Willing to Teach Things That Are Controversial Jude 3 “contend earnestly for the faith” • Accept All That The Bible Says Psalm 119:160 “entirety of Your word is truth” • Teach All That The Bible Says Acts 20:27

  9. Rather than trying to Avoid Controversy – we should try to Avoid Error! • Embrace the Truth no Matter What Others Think About it- • Revelation 3:10 “hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.”
