  9. Paul as an apostle strived to be the greatest servant of the church He lived for others!

  10. Vs. 24 • Who [ I Paul] now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church: Rejoicing in suffering?

  11. Paul is NOT alone • A Different Perspective • The Apostles • Acts 5:41 • And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

  12. Paul’s Promise of Suffering Turn to Acts 9:15-16

  13. Turn to 2 Corinthians 11:23 Paul’s Suffering

  14. Suffering • Emotional • Psychological • Physical Paul experienced all three!

  15. Suffering DOES NOT always mean there is sin in your life! Sometimes you may suffer because of your passion for DOING Right!

  16. Vs. 24 • Paul rejoiced in his sufferings for the church • “and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church”

  17. Christ Suffered • After Christ suffered for the redemption and reconciliation of the body of Christ • More suffering/tribulation must occur as a result of the ministry of the gospel • Until Christ Return’s in Glory

  20. Peter vs. John What about us and others?

  21. Turn to Acts 6:8 Stephen is Seized for Preaching the Gospel

  22. Consider This • In THEORY, we would not have the Christian church today if the apostles and early church were not willing to suffer persecution for His Name’s Sake. • Question • Is today’s generation still willing to suffer for His Name?

  23. Answer Consider the reality that most Christians will NOT even suffer with 10% less of their income for the proclamation of the gospel.

  24. The Fact Is… • The collective church cannot grow without suffering. Prove It!

  25. Q: What is the biggest hindrance to the advancement of the gospel? A: Hypocrisy & Duplicity!

  26. Proof • 2 Timothy 3:12 • Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. Is there really something to this truth?

  27. Suffering and Persecution • Question • Do you understand that when the world and its system persecutes you for His Name, they are really NOT persecuting you?

  28. Vs. 24 • We are partakers in the “afflictions of Christ” • 2 Corinthians 1:7 • And our hope of you is steadfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.

  29. Acts 14:22 [Paul and Barnabas were:] Confirming [strengthening] the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

  30. Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
