  4. Diana • Goddess of the Hunt/Wild Creatures • Wanted nothing to do with men. • Punished mortals who harmed defenseless animals. • Demanded sacrifices from mortals who crossed her. artemis

  5. V enus • Goddess of Love and Beauty. • She was born from sea foam. • Married to Hephaestus, the ugliest god. • Not the most faithful. • Symbols: swan and dove. • Her name is the basis of the word “aphrodisiac”. Aphrodite

  6. Minerva • Goddess of Wisdomand Battle • Sprang fully grown from Zeus’ head. • Symbol: Owl • Competed with Poseidon to become the patron of a new city-state. • Athena won; New city-state became Athens. Athena
