  1. TIPS ON DOING PRESENTATIONS Mental and Physical Preparation Before Your Presentation • The more prepared you are, the more confident you will feel • Practice a month or few weeks before your presentation, as this will help you to understand more about the topic that you want to talk about, hence, you will be able to speak smoothly • Practice your presentation in front of your peers, family members, etc as this will help you to be more comfortable to speak in front of people

  2. TIPS ON DOING PRESENTATIONS Days before your presentation - Drink lots of water - Get a good night’s sleep - Do not starve yourself - Breathe - Visualize a positive outcome - Hang out with the other speakers (if there are any) and ask them questions and for advice

  3. TIPS ON DOING PRESENTATIONS Preparing your support materials • The key to preparing your actual presentation is to remember that less is more • Print your slides (give to audiences and lecturers) • Keep text to a minimum. No more than 5 bullet points per slide • Check font size. Make sure that if you have text on the screen • that people can read it • Use pictures to get your idea across. They’re easier to remember, less distracting • and make more impact • Avoid complicated charts and graphs, they’re hard for your audience to follow • Check the resolution of your presentation (few days before your presentation, • open your slides on the computer+projector that are going to be used on your • presentation day, so, you can see if every thing fit nicely in the slides) • Prepare more than you can speak to, but also be prepared to get cut short • (because time flies really quickly)

  4. HOW TO DO PRESENTATIONS? • On the day of the presentation • Think positive • - Tell stories. They also have the added benefit of helping to engage your audience • - Don’t read your slides. They should support what you are saying, not be what you • are saying • - Keep your intro short and strong • - Keep it slow and steady. Pause when you need to take a breath, you’ll think better • - Don’t agonize over mistakes, and don’t say you’re sorry. Keep confident and if you • mess up–move on • - Pause to let strong ideas sink in. This can be hard to remember, but your audience • needs time to absorb and take breaks too

  5. HOW TO DO PRESENTATIONS? • Smile, joke and laugh if appropriate. A little humour can go a long way, but don’t • over do it • - Learn from your mistakes • - End strong. Make your finale crisp, clean and powerful • - Be prepared for interruptions and questions. If you are doing well, you’ll have • lots of questions • For your last slide, put a pic of a question mark or you can write ‘We welcome • any questions’ OR ‘Any Question?’
