But before you decide to come live here or invest in the Carolina colony, there is some basic information that you should know about the colony. This presentation will inform you of the history, economy, and society of Carolina.
The History of the Colony In 1663, eight wealthy British men came together and got a charter from King Charles. to form a colony that was Carolina. These men were: • Edward Hyde (Earl of Clarendon) • George Monck (Duke of Albermarle) • Lord William Craven • Anthony Ashley Cooper (Earl of Shaftesbury) • Sir John Berkeley • Sir George Careret • Sir William Berkeley • Sir John Colleton Did You Know? Carolina is named after the Latin name Carolus, which means Charles!

History of the Colony Carolina was founded for the agricultural benefits of the land. Investors have a solid way to make money off of their investment. Settlers will be able to personally reap the benefits of a good farm, with a great and plentiful harvest.
The Carolinas’ two main exports were: Tobacco Sugar
The Carolinas were perfect for growing a variety of citrus fruit for the inhabitants of the colonies
Economy The Carolinas have lots of land for growing crops earlier mentioned. And to help you maintain your land you can buy your very own slaves, which you then own forever and never have to pay another dime for labor!
Economy For trade in the Carolinas, Fort Prince George is located right on the Keowee River, right near many Indian villages, as well as having the river there for transportation. If you want to expand, you have plenty of room to your west full of great land.
Society If you are worried about unfriendly neighbors, have no fear. North and South Carolina have only hardworking, down-to-earth farmers and fisherman. We do not persecute people under false pretenses, such as witchcraft.
Religion There is religious freedom in the Carolinas; however, the prevalent religion is Protestant. Judaism is even accepted in North and South Carolina.
Government Sir Richard Everard Robert Johnson Robert Johnson, the governor of South Carolina in 1630, is a governor who refuses to stay idle. Immediately proceeding his election of governor in 1717, he led a charge against pirates raiding the coast. Now the pirates are no longer a threat, thanks to Robert Johnson. Sir Richard Everard is the governor of North Carolina at the current time, 1730. Sir Richard Everard is an upstanding individual. He has already established a border with Virginia, a long-disputed matter.
Government Robert Johnson and Sir Richard Everard were elected governors by the people who invested in the colony. However, after these two governors the the Crown of England took over and appointed a governor for each colony that they saw fit to rule the people for the best welfare and profit possible.
Indians The local Indians have been peaceful since early on when the governor of Carolina made peace with the Creek and Keowee tribes. Fort Prince George is centrally located near many Indian Villages, and the trade between both tribes is very solid.
