The Underinsured Issue is Severe

  • Many employees have less than optimal life insurance coverage and do not recognize it

  • Employees say they value group life insurance, but a significant number of them are not taking action

  • Nearly half of employees are underinsured** The underinsured issue is just as severe – if not worse - than it was six years ago when MetLife last studied this issue

** “Underinsured” is defined as having life insurance coverage that is equal to or less than three times annual household income.
