  1. Final Project Discussion Prof. Dave Bakken CptS/EE 562 October 1, 2014

  2. 562 Final Project Possibilities Due Sunday December 14 at noon, via ANGEL • Teams allowed but not required • Should take the average student 50-60 hours Possible Variations (not exhaustive) • More detailed literature survey project • Possible, by my least favorite (unless perhaps FT+securitytopic or directly helps your or your group’s research) • Programming project • You have to get your own software…. RTI DDS is possible here • Experimental evaluation project • Install some research software system • Evaluate it • Write up a report (performance, other), maybe 10-20 pages • I will suggest some possibilities later • Research Design Project…. • Best by far, if you have an idea to flesh out or related to your graduate studies somehow

  3. Research Design Projects • Detailed writeup of an idea • In 1990 class like this my idea got an FTCS-21 paper, later PhD!!! • We can brainstorm about ideas later…. but you have to come up with your own… • Tentative timetable • Wednesday, October 22, via ANGEL (drop box “FinalProj Proposal”): 1 page max on scope, issues, etc .. pdf please • Possibly next week one half lecture, in class, discussion of projects and final topics decided (along with one student presentation for ½ the period) • Sunday December 14, noon: project reports due via ANGEL. You can demo to me that afternoon or early in finals week, if a demo is appropriate.
