  2. ELA Informational Text Objective Today we will……. identify and determine different aspects of informational text to help evaluate and analyze different text.

  3. Articles- appear in newspapers, magazines, encyclopedias, and online. Nonfiction-is factual writing about real people, places, events, ideas, and things. Informational text- it informs readers about the world • Biography- tells the true story of a person’s life • Autobiography- tells the true story in 1st person point of view • Essay- shares the author’s outlook or point of view • Speech- presents a topic orally • Textbook- gives factual information about a topic • Letter/Journal/Diary -gives a personal account of events • Interview -shares a person’s experiences, ideas, and opinions

  4. Author’s Purpose P- persuade I- inform E-explain E- entertain D- describe Authors usually have more than one purpose for writing such as: explain,describe,persuade, or inform. With informational texts the main purpose is to inform, however writers may also describe something or try to entertain as they are explaining the topic.
