The Soccer World Cup is the 2nd biggest event the world knows. • The Heia Safari Ranch is set near a beautiful hilly country town called Honeydew. Visitors can spend the night there with luxurious rondavels. • The Apartheid Museum is rated as one of the best attractions in Johannesburg. The historical museum takes you through 6,000sq m of rooms with sights and sounds of the apartheid era. • Wanderers Stadium. The Stadium in Johannesburg which seats 34,000 people. The first test match at the ground was held back in 1956.

JOHANNESBURGHISTORY • In 1886 Gold was found in Johannesburg leading to a massive gold rush with people from all around the world traveling to South Africa to find gold. • Johannesburg used to be ruled by a different government, Pretoria, it used to be a small prospecting settlement in which people flocked to from all over the world. • Johannesburg only became an official city in 1928 it was set up as a town in 1886 for the Gold Rush.

It has become one of the most cultural cities in the world. • During World War 2, London like many other cities suffered severe damage. The heaviest bombing took place on 10th of May 1941. • In 1800 the city had a population of almost 1,000,000. In 1900 6,500,000 and in 2006 7,650,000 people. A third of the population of Australia! • In 1800 Mayfair on Monopoly was built in the rich West End of London. MAYFAIR
