  1. History Class Basics Ms. Hart Per. 2 & 6

  2. Class Materials • 1 Composition or Spiral Notebook • ISN • Pencils • Colored Pencils

  3. Chapters There are approximately 5 chapters in each of the 7 units we will be studying this year.

  4. Day 1 in the Chapter • I will present a PowerPoint related that explains everything in the chapter. • I will tell you what to write down in your spiral notebook. (e.g. bullet points directly from the PPT, summary of the slide, or diagrams/pictures) • On some days, we will read the chapter out loud from the textbook and you will take notes in your ISN. • Homework will be Key Terms and unfinished reading.

  5. Day 2 in the Chapter • Check HW: Key Terms • Possible pop quiz on the last night’s reading • Nearpod Presentation OR Review Game • Nearpods are review presentations done in groups competing against other groups. • The Review Game is a Jeopardy game with everyone competing against one another.

  6. Chapter Quizzes • A mix of multiple choice, short answer, and fill-in-the-blank • A page of front-and-back • 20-30 points, 30% of your grade

  7. Unit Tests • You will take a unit test at the end of every unit. • Unit tests are usually a mix of multiple choice, short answer, fill-in-the-blank,true/false, a vocabulary chart, and possibly a simple map. • 100 points, 40% of your grade • 2 pages, each front-and-back

  8. Spiral/Comp Book • Spiral/comp books are graded after each grading period • This is graded whether you have all of the notes • Up to 150 points, 20% of your grade

  9. Video Notes • For most of the videos we watch in class, you will need to write down 10 facts you learned from the video. • For some of the videos, you will have an option to write a 5-7 sentence summary of the video as 5 points of extra credit. • These assignments will go into the spiral/comp book.

  10. Active Classroom Participation and Behavior • Ask questions! • Answer questions by raising your hand! • Be quiet when told, turn in assignments on time, and get to class on time! • ACPB will be graded after each grading period. • Earn up to 20 points, 10% of your grade
