  3. MATH Investigations - a hands on way of teaching math through exploration and problem solving. We will make real life connections as to why and where we would use math. Problem Solving – Mathematical Reasoning The process of observing children while solving word problems and questioning their solution strategies is the true learning process in action. The types of word problems are also varied from basic to advanced. It will show how they can use what math they know and how they create a path to an answer, which could be very different from an algorithmic approach. Please help with:

HOMEWORK • Mondays sent home – due by Friday • Spelling – test on Friday • Math - Dreambox • Homework Helper – do 3 assignments • http://www.harcourtschool.com/activity/trophies/homework_helper/grade2/index.html • Project Week (Flat Stanley, . . .) • Reading – 15 minutes a night • PTO Family Reading Program starts in Sept.

  5. Sleep • The National Sleep Foundation suggests the following guidelines for children: • 6 – 9 year olds need about 10 hours of sleep a night. These are guidelines to follow, everyone is different. Sleep makes you smarter!
