  2. QUEENSLANDS LOCATION • -Queensland occupies the north-eastern section of the mainland continent. It is bordered by the Northern Territory to the west, South Australia to thesouth-west and New South Wales to the south. To the east, Queensland is bordered by the Coral Sea and Pacific Ocean, The state is Australia's second largest by area. • -The state capital is Brisbane, located on the coast 100 kilometres (60 mi) by road north of the New South Wales border

HISTORY • - Its hard to tell when the Aboriginal people arrived in Queensland as traditions have been passed down through myths and legends of the ‘dreaming time’ this time tells us that they lived in Queensland many years before the European settlement. • There are many archaeological sites that have been dated to around 40,000 years and in Queensland some sites 15,000 to 30,000 years old. • Many of the aboriginals traded over short and long distances, exchanging things such as dilly bags, spear throwers etc. prior to non-indigenous settlement there were approximately more than 90 indigenous languages in Queensland.

  5. Features of qld • CLIMATE • - The Climate of Queensland is a big feature and a big appeal to tourists. It has low rainfall and hot summers. North, there is a monsoonal ‘wet’ season with warm temperatures. • - Coastal conditions are influenced by warm ocean waters. This keeps the region from extreme temperatures • BEACHES • - There are various different beaches all over the state. • Some are: Noosa Heads • Flying Fish Point • Broad Beach • Fraser Island • CBD • - A visit to the South Bank Precinct and a river cruise are enjoyable ways to spend time in Brisbane. Or for something different, join a climb to the top of the Story Bridge for some spectacular views of the river and Brisbane city.

Major natural tourist attractions • "The Aarhus" Dive Site-North of Moreton Island lies a 50 metre iron barque which sank in 1894 after a 122 day sail from New York, experience a once in a life time scuba-diving with all the fishes in the sea. • Blue Lake National Park- Blue Lake National Park is on North Stradbroke Island, the largest of Moreton Bay's islands and one of the world's most ecologically important wetlands. Walk the six-kilometre (return) track to the lake through wallum woodlands, flowering heath and stunted eucalypts • Brisbane Lookout Mount Coot-tha- These spectacular views are only a short drive from the city centre. At night, the city lights and star-lit skies are spread before you. • Gab Titui Cultural Centre- Torres Strait’s first keeping place for historical artefacts and contemporary Indigenous art. The central focus of the centre is to contribute to the maintenance, revitalisation and preservation of Torres Strait culture and the development and promotion of local Indigenous art.

State economy • Tourism is one of the major industries adding to economic growth within Queensland, agriculture is also a major attribute, some examples include;- fruit and nut crops that are important to the state economy some fruits include;■Apples (pomme fruit) • ■Avocados • ■Bananas • ■Citrus • ■Custard apples • There has been a downpour in Queensland's economy due to recent natural disasters such as the Queensland floods.
