  4. 7th Grade Placement • Tentative placement will be made in February • To be placed in Intro. to Algebra, each student must meet the following criteria: • To be placed in Accelerated Algebra, each student must meet the above criteria with the following additions: • Students who do not earn at least a 70% in Pre-Algebra this year will have to attend summer school to meet the requirements or repeat Pre-Algebra in 7th grade.

  6. Thinking Skills – To Infinity and Beyond • Learning is thinking…Know it v. Use it • Encourages higher level thinking skills: Evaluate, Create, Analyze, etc. • Recognize and communicate the thinking process

  7. Program Overview • Text Resources: • CD-ROM • Online Resources/Support: • http://www.classzone.com • (Online quizzes/tests, animations, PowerPoint tutorials) • Units of Study • Not always sequential • See teacher website for unit lesson components

Homework… • Homework every night • 30 - 45 minutes per night (This includes reviewing notes each day) • Understand that there are many methods • If child is really struggling they should show their attempted work and then stop. This is a way for me to see what they know. • Students are responsible to ask before or during class if they are confused

  9. Mrs. J’s Class Webpage Our classroom website is a resource for you and your child. Go to the district site, www.cbsd.org, and type “Jansen” in the search box. The first option will open to our class page.

  10. Assessments/Grading District policy: • On-Going assessments: announced and unannounced • Tests must be taken within reasonable time limits • Retests will not be an option • No extra credit • Notebook Checks Weighted grading system (tests v. quizzes) **Progress reports available at any time
