  4. CARING FOR NEW MEMBERSThe Teacher • Draw out the class to tell what they know. • Use illustration to impress truth on the mind. • Draw out students ideas and correct or affirm those ideas. • Too much information gluts the mind CCS, 115-119

  5. CARING FOR NEW MEMBERSThe Teacher • Guide the new members in a discussion of the key texts in the lesson, keeping the spotlight on the Word of God. • Keep the pages of the Bible turning, having class members read key discussion texts.

CARING FOR NEW MEMBERSThe Teacher • Listen to God’s ideas first, and then share your thoughts and feelings. • Impress upon new members the need to humbly depend upon the Holy Spirit for rightly discerning the truth and for strength to live it in a manner that will please and glorify God.   8. CARING FOR NEW MEMBERSThe Teacher • Sabbath School teachers need to look to Jesus for wisdom in molding the minds of their scholars CSS. p 121 • Is it then a slight matter to teach in the Sabbath school, without the preparation of heart for this momentous work? CSS. 121

  9. CARING FOR NEW MEMBERSThe Teacher • Every teacher, before he stands at head of his class, should have his plans distinctly laid in mind… • Reciting is not teaching. You want simple words and plainly, clearly stated ideas. • Make sure your scholar understand you. Work deep. Don’t skim the surface. CSS. p118

  10. CARING FOR NEW MEMBERSThe Teacher • Make sure your scholars understand. If they can’t comprehend your ideas, then your labor is lost. • Sound doctrine must be brought into contact with the minds and hearts of your scholars.

  11. CARING FOR NEW MEMBERSThe Teacher • Let teachers themselves drink deep of the water of salvation.. and they will know just what course the Lord will have them take to win the precious youth to Jesus. CSS p. 116

  12. CARING FOR NEW MEMBERSThe Teacher • Have as teachers those whose example and influence will be a blessing rather than a curse. • Give not, by voice or pen, encouragement to men or women… who have not integrity of character. CSS p. 90
