Objective: SWBAT Assess characters by examining their actions and decisions within the text and applying notions of the “Greek Ideal.” 16 December 2013 English I Honors Do Now: Generate a list of heroic attributes from the Greek Culture based on last week’s reading in Understanding the Odyssey and notions of the “Greek Hero.”

Objective: SWBAT Assess characters by examining their actions and decisions within the text and applying notions of the “Greek Ideal.” Agenda -10 Minute Writing Session Writing Prompt Week #2: Argue whether Hercules and Jesse Owens truly embody the attributes of the “Greek Athlete” as described within “Contemporary Applications: The Athlete and Athletics” (Johnson and Johnson 164). -“Cupid and Psyche” (Hamilton 96 – 104) Small Group Reading -Attribute / Decision Making Cornell Notes HW: Complete Attribute Cornell Notes for “Cupid and Psyche” within Hamilton’s Mythology (Hamilton 96 – 104).

  3. Objective: SWBAT Assess characters by examining their actions and decisions within the text and applying notions of the “Greek Ideal.” Closure: Evaluate the level of virtue exhibited by either Cupid or Psyche within today’s reading by examining their respective choices and actions throughout the reading. Compare this character’s sense of virtue with that of Hercules (Hamilton 166 – 179).
