The Network: Key Facts • 21 DTCs • 47 institutions • Nearly 300 pathway clusters • Nearly 700 individual pathways • Institutional accreditation and DTG payment • ‘Investment management’ approach • Key aims: • Excellence in training (core, advanced, transferable) • Flexibility and innovation in use of funds • Collaboration (between institutions and with non-academic organisations) • Embedding transferable skills

The first cohort… • Students started October 2011 • Received Start Up Reports November 2011: • 600 notionally allocated • 645 actually awarded for 2011/12 (8% increase) • Over half the network awarding above their allocation • Steers to DTCs generally met or exceeded • Benchmarks for Economics, AQM and Interdisciplinary PhDs met or exceeded • Evidence of successful collaborations and generation of co-funding • New pathways • Flexibility • Innovation
