  2. Protection • Meerkats have sharp teeth and long clawsto scratch and bite there predators. • A meerkat climbs to the highest rock and ifit sees a predator it whistles.

  3. Habitat • Meerkats dig burrows in the plains ofSouthern Africa.

  4. Diet • Meerkats like to millipedes, spiders, eatgrubs, lizards, snails, roots, groundsquirrels,and small rodents.

  5. Description • Meerkats have narrow pointed muzzlesseries of dark stripes crosswise on back. • Meerkats black eyes and black ears. • Meerkats lower parts of head and bodyisgrizzled in yellowish brown or palegrey.

  6. Interesting Facts • Meerkats can dig burrows 10 feet deep. • Meerkats have jobs like hunter, teacher andbabysitter. • Meerkats can live up to 10 years.
