  4. Problem • The boys father was sent to jail for stealing a pig for his family. • Sounder chases the wagon and gets shot by the sheriff. • The boy tries to find Sounder and keep him alive.

  6. Solution • The boy keeps looking for Sounder and finds him under his porch. He takes him home and Sounder slowly dies. He learned to get over Sounder dying.

  7. About the author • William H. Armstrong was born on September 14, 1911. He was born in the town of Lexington while the worst hailstorm and tornado were happening. His parents name were Howard and Ida Armstrong. He grew up to publish his first book named “Study is Hard Work” in 1956. In 1963 he was awarded the National School Bell Award of the National Association of School Administrators.
