  2. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 NKJV[23] For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; [24] and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." [25] In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." [26] For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.

  8. 1 Samuel chapter 4 Israel is fighting the Philistines close to Eben-Ezer and they were defeated!

  9. 1 Samuel chapter 4 The sons of Eli Ohphni and Phinehas are now dead. God was not with them!

  10. 1 Samuel chapter 4 the Philistines captured the Ark of The Lord.

  11. When news reached Eli that the Ark of The Lord has been captured and that his two sons are now dead he died.

  12. God chose to dwell symbolically in Israel over the Ark of the covenant (Ex 25:8,10,17-22; 29:41-46)

  13. God told Israel He would dwell on the mercy seat between the two cherubim (Ex 25:22; II Sam 6:2).

  14. The Ark was kept in the innermost holy of holies of the tabernacle and temple, and it was off-limits.

  15. When wicked priests wickedly took the Ark into battle, God let the Philistines kill them and steal it.

  16. 1 Samuel 4:19-22 NKJV[19] Now his daughter-in-law, Phinehas's wife, was with child, due to be delivered; and when she heard the news that the ark of God was captured, and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and gave birth, for her labor pains came upon her. [20] And about the time of her death the women who stood by her said to her, "Do not fear, for you have borne a son." But she did not answer, nor did she regard it. [21] Then she named the child Ichabod, saying, "The glory has departed from Israel!" because the ark of God had been captured and because of her father-in-law and her husband. [22] And she said, "The glory has departed from Israel, for the ark of God has been captured."

Where do you stand about the presence of God? • Where does this church stand relative to His presence? • Can the presence of God go away from many of us and live us alone for ever? • God fills heaven and earth, so He is always everywhere, for He is an omniscient God (Jer 23:23-24). • But here we speak of fellowship and walking with God and His delight, power, and revelation in us. • Let us as a congregation not permit that “Ichabod happen to us”.

  26. Joshua did not want to leave the tabernacle where God met with Moses (Exodus 33:11). The Importance of God’s Presence

  27. Asa led a national revival that sought God’s presence and got it (II Chr 15:2,4,12-15). The Importance of God’s Presence

  28. David loved the presence of God; David knew God was always with him (Ps 139:1-18). The Importance of God’s Presence

  35. God warned Moses that even His chosen priests could be cut off from Him (Lev 22:1-3). The Danger of Losing God’s Presence

  36. Achan cost Israel God’s powerful presence, though they did not know it (Joshua 7:1-5). The Danger of Losing God’s Presence

  37. Israel lost God’s glorious presence when the Philistines took the Ark The Danger of Losing God’s Presence
