  3. Approaches and Resources to Help University Faculty Develop a Deeper Understanding of the Common Core State Standards Dr. Candice McQueen, Dean Lipscomb University

  5. Cross Campus Collaboration to Deepen Faculty Understanding of the Common Core State Standards with a Focus on CAEP Standard 1 and CAEP Standard 2 Jeanne Burns & Linda McKee

Task 1 • (Small Group) Identify practices at Lipscomb University • (Small Group) Identify practices in Louisiana’s universities • (Large Group) Share identified practices • (Large Group) Identify existing resources in Louisiana and new resources • Outcomes • List of resources and materials. • Awareness of strategies that support CAEP Standard 1 and 2.

  7. BREAK AND DINNER at 5:30 PM Institute reconvenes at 6:30 PM for discussion about prospectus.

  8. Input into a prospectus for major funding to support needs identified for teacher preparation transformation 2.0 Potential Duration: 5 Years Potential Amount of Funding: $5 to $8 million Potential Source: Private Foundations

  9. Task 2 • Identify Aspects of Teacher Preparation to be focus of grant • Identify Outcome to be accomplished as a result of the grant funds • Identify overall usage of the funds (e.g., campus funding, state data collection, research to examine effective practices, etc.) • Outcomes • Understanding of how CTC, CAEP, NTEP, and grant prospectus will support Teacher Preparation Transformation 2.0. • List of recommendations for inclusion in grant prospectus.

  12. Task 3 • (Small Group) Share aspirational characteristics identified by faculty, PK-12 educator partners, and others • (Small Group) Select the 5 most important aspirational characteristics for university and PK-12 clinical educators • (Large Group) Share the most important characteristics with the large group • Outcomes • List of aspirational characteristics of clinical educators.
