Let n represent the number of visitors on Saturday, and let m represent the number of visitors on Sunday. • Write an expression that represents the total amount of money collected for both days. • Is there another way to write this expression? • What is the total amount of money collected for the weekend if there were 75 visitors on Saturday and 90 visitors on Sunday?

  10. What is Science Like for 6th graders this year? • This year, your students will be learning the way scientists learn, exploring interesting questions and challenges, reading about what other scientists have discovered, investigating, experimenting, gathering evidence, and forming explanations. They will learn to collaborate with others to find answers and to share their learning in a variety of ways. In the process, they will come to see science in a whole new, exciting way that will motivate them throughout their educational experiences and beyond

  11. How is my student graded • Group Collaborative Rubrics • Graded as group unless one person stands out (positively or negatively). • Students each have a copy and will grade themselves and will get a grade from me to compare. • This will be worth a 45% Informal Grade • There will be less homework than in a traditional classroom, but there will be some, and I expect it to show true effort of the student. • Take home tests will count as a 45% Formal Grade NOT a 10% homework grade • Various in- class assignments with both formal and informal weights.

  12. Science Resources • PBIS Online Textbook • http://ebook.its-about-time.com/ • Teacher Website • http://baileyscience.cmswiki.wikispaces.net
