  1. Sixth Grade Discipline Plan A whole new world!

  2. How does it work?

  3. It Starts With 4 Simple Questions

  4. First offense • The first time you break the social contract during a class period, the teacher will ask the 4 questions. • What are you doing? • What are you supposed to be doing? • Are you doing it? • What are you going to do about it?

  5. First Consequence • If the student answers appropriately, a verbal warning will be given. • The student must answer the questions. • The responses, “nothing” and “I don’t know” will not be acceptable.

  6. Second Offense/Consequence • The second time during the class period that the student breaks the social contract, the teacher will repeat the 4 questions. Then the student will be asked to sign the behavior log.

  7. Third Offense • The third time during the class period that a misbehavior occurs, the teacher will repeat the 4 questions. In addition, the student will be given a “Behavior Out” form and sent to another classroom.

  8. The Behavior Out Form • Form will be handed to you by the teacher. • Teacher will tell you which 6th grade room to visit. • When you arrive in that room, you will see an empty desk with an orange behavior out sign above it. • You will set the timer for 10 minutes and begin filling out the “Behavior Out” form. • When you return, place the form in the teacher’s designated spot. • A copy will be sent home to your parents.

  9. Fourth Offense • When you have been warned, signed the behavior log, and visited another classroom during a given class period and you misbehave a fourth time, you will be assigned a classroom detention.

  10. Classroom Detention • You will be given a slip to take home to your parents which tells when you are to attend your detention. • The day and time will be decided by the teacher assigning the detention. • If you do not attend, a Saturday detention will automatically be assigned.

  11. Fifth Offense • The fifth offense, which follows a warning, signing the behavior log, visiting another room, and a classroom detention, will be an office referral. An office referral is an automatic Saturday detention.

Report Card Conduct • After signing the behavior log 3 times in a 9 weeks, a conduct mark is given. • Each time a student visits another class, a conduct mark is given. • For each classroom detention assigned, a conduct mark is given. • For each Saturday detention assigned, two conduct marks will be given.

  14. Report Card Grades • 0-2 Marks=E • 3-8 Marks=S • 9-15 Marks=N • 16+ Marks=U
