  5. Phoneme Segmentation Fluency • I’m going to say a word and after I say it you tell me all the sounds you hear in that word. So if I say Sam you would say /s/ /a/ /m/. Now you try…. cat. computer

  6. Nonsense Word Fluency • Look at this word, it’s a make believe word. Watch me read the word /s/ /i/ /m/ or /sim/. I can say the sounds of the letters /s/ /i/ /m/ or I can read the whole word /sim/. Now you try to read a make believe word…lut. Is this a sim or a lut?

  7. Oral Reading Fluency • Please read this out loud. When I say begin start here and read the best you can. If you come to a word you don’t know I’ll tell it to you so you can keep reading. • One minute • Subtract miscues from total number of words.

  8. Retell Fluency • Tell me everything you can remember about what you just read.

  13. WHAT CAN PARENTS DO? • WATCH PAPERS IN THE TUESDAY FOLDER • LOOK AT THE FAMILY TIMES NEWSLETTER • ASK YOUR CHILD QUESTIONS THAT REQUIRE HIM OR HER TO THINK BEYOND THE OBVIOUS…WHY DO YOU THINK? HOW WOULD YOU FEEL? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
