  2. Match the commandment to its clue. Are there any commandments you would not find personally relevant ? Which ones/ why? Are the commandments still relevant to today’s society? Think of reasons for both points of view, then explain your own point of view. You shall worship only the Lord your God. Do not make images of false gods. Keep the Sabbath day holy. You shall not kill. You shall not desire another person’s husband or wife. Honour your father and mother. You shall not take the Lord’s name in vain. You shall not commit adultery You shall not desire what belongs to someone else. You shall not lie You shall not steal

  3. Read through the information p.14. Now complete the following… • Who were the commandments revealed to and where? • Bullet point 3 reasons why they are important. Subtitle your list. • The Catechism of the Catholic Church says that the Commandments are a ____ __ ____. Explain what this could mean. • Why do Christians follow the Jewish 10 Commandments? (use Jesus’ reply to the young man) Quote and explain what Jesus is saying **Consider what society would be like without rules. In what sense would human beings be free?

Write in the 3rd column of your table a different way of understanding each commandment. **Are the 10 Commandments just a set of rules to follow, or if they are “a path of life” ? Explain why you think that. 1st I must honour God 2nd honour His name 3rd honour His da-a-y, only this will be my aim 4th I must be obedient 5th be kind and true, 6th be pure in all I say and see & hear &do 7th I must be honest 8th be truthful in all things I say 9th be pure in mind and heart in all I think and desire each day 10th I must be satisfied not be jealous come what may These are God’s 10 Commandments These I must obey.

  5. I sold something on ebay and charged £6 for postage. When I went to the post office, I found out that postage was only £3. Which commandments would need to be applied in these situations? My friend got a newer iPhone version than me. Do I upgrade to that version as well, or keep the phone I have and go for a lower tariff? • HW • Think of 2 scenarios. Explain which commandments you would have to apply in each one, if you were a Christian and why. My friend cheated on her husband and got pregnant. Should she tell the husband it’s his? Should she have an abortion?
