Defining the Existing Operations and Needs) • Second Phase, Development • (3. Analysis and Recommendations and 4. Technical Specifications and Standards) • Third Phase, Implementation • (5. Installation of H/W and S/W, 6. Detailed DB design and organization 7. Pilot Project application 8. Training 9. Conversion and Transfer of existing Data and 10. Maintenance and Support).

Existing Operations and Needs (A) • Review how the country’s relevant organizations and physical persons are currently using AnGR data (collection, analysis, storage, presentation and distribution) • Interviews with key personnel in each of the organizations that will likely use the DB or produce DB data. • Define the mission, operation, and organization of each authority (how it collects, uses, analyzes, and distributes AnGR data, needs and problems using this data) • Written documentation

Existing Operations and Needs (B) Introduction and background to DB • Information from each country should cover the following: • The existence or not of a National DB for AnGR • The scope for what was built • Location • DB Management System used • Institution /Organization that has developed the DB • Institution / Organization that maintain the DB

Existing Operations and Needs (C) Summary of existing operations • Monitoring of AnGR • Management of AnGR • Conservation / cyoconservation issues • Responsible organizations • Governmental organisations, Research……. • Private sector (NGOS, Breeders organisations etc) • National / Regional / International level • Frequency of updates • Other DBs for AnGR (NGOS, Breeders organisations etc) and links with the National DB

  14. 3. Analysis and Recommendations (A) • Analyze the data collected - examine the feasibility of an AnGR DB - develop further the plan. • Define the initial design parameters • Improve the working relationship between the NC (or the facilitator of the DB) and the responsible parts for AnGr DB.
