  2. Specification Development • Input from 3GPP2 members or partners. • Stage 1 – Requirements • Stage 2 – Message Flow • Stage 3 – Detailed Encoding and Processing • Testing – Conformance • Technical Reports – Informative • All specifications are voluntary even when described as ‘normative’

  3. Getting Involved • Specifications can be freely downloaded from http://www.3gpp2.org • 3GPP2 members can participate in specification development • Contact xxxx for more information on membership and guest status

  4. Stage 1 • Requirements for new features • Generic requirements defined by TSG-S • Domain-specific requirements defined by TSG-C (radio interface), TSG-X (core network) or TSG-A (RAN/IOS) • Published as informative reports

  5. Stage 2 • Describes a protocol at a high level through descriptive text and message flows. • Usually integrated into a specification with Stage 3.

  6. Stage 3 • Detailed protocol specification • Describes every bit and byte in every message in the protocol • Defines actions for protocol end points

  7. Test Specifications • List types of test specs here…

  8. Standardization • 3GPP2 organizational partners may take 3GPP2 specifications and republish them as national standards. • Regional or national requirements may be standardized independently by a 3GPP2 partner without a 3GPP2 specification.
