  1. Super Hero Essay Reminders • This is an Expository Essay…not narrative! • It should be at least 5 paragraphs! • It should describe or EXPLAIN who your Hero is! • It can be funny or serious! • Have fun!

  2. Introduction Paragraph My grandmother, my aunt, my best friend, and my dog have each experienced some type of cancer. These days it would be difficult to find a person who has not been affected in some way by this hideous disease, but there is hope. Hero Guy is here to help rid the world of cancer one person at a time! Begin with a grabber lead: State an interesting fact Give a personal story Ask a question Use a quote or dialogue Use onomatopoeia Use three adjectives Introduce the “evil” problem Introduce the character

  3. Body Paragraph 1 One of the biggest problems with cancer is that people often do not realize that they have it. With his x-ray vision, Hero Guy can actually see where the cancer is located in your body. Write another great lead sentence In this paragraph discuss one of the hero’s powers or strengths and tell how he can use it to fight the “evil” problem. Should be 5-7 sentences

  4. Body Paragraph 2 After Hero Guy uses his x-ray vision to detect cancer in the body, he uses his Laser Beam vision to burn the cancer out of the person’s body. Use a transition word or phrase to connect this paragraph to the last one. Give information on another one of the hero’s powers and how it is used to fight off “evil”. Should be 5-7 sentences

  5. Body Paragraph 3 With these two great powers, there should be no more cancer; however, Hero Guy is not perfect. He does have one weakness: an addiction to Diet Dr. Pepper. Without his daily dose of the Aspartame- laced concoction, Hero Guy is lethargic and powerless like a teacher on a Monday morning without her coffee. Aspartame is known to cause cancer in laboratory rats, so the disease he lives to fight could be his downfall. Begin with a transition word or phrase. Either tell about another power OR tell about a weakness

  6. Concluding paragraph So the next time a strange man wearing a black cape and silver glasses approaches you on the street, do not be afraid. It is probably Hero Guy searching for cancer with his xray vision, burning it out of the victim’s body, and hoping he does not run out of Diet Dr. Pepper before nap time! Transition word or phrase Refer to the problem and Hero Leave the reader thinking Go out with a bang!
