  1. Polishtraditions & customs.

  2. Baptism ! Baptism is a religious rite ,which consists in the adoption of the child to the Christian community. Child have white clothes. Guests are solemnly dressed. After a solemn mass in the church takes place small or large ceremony in restaurant or in a children’s home .

  3. First Holy Communion ! First Holy Communion is held in the church. Children first time take part in the full mass. Children dressed are in white attire. Guests are dressed in ceremonial costumes. After a solemn mass takes place adoption in the premises or house parents of a child. At the party , don’t drink alcohol, because it is a religious ceremony. Children get gifts commemorating First Holy Communion.

  4. Engagement ! The man solemnly dressed asks for the hand of a girl her parents. He hands flowers and alcohol, his beloved one parents.The man give girl a engagement ring and beautiful flowers.

  5. Marriage ! • In Poland is civil marriage and church . Civil marriage is in the registry office. Church marriage is in the church. Bride and groom are solemnly dressed. Bride has white dress , flowers and veil. Groom has dark or light suit. Bride is leads to the altar by her father . Each of the brides have one witness. After the assumption wedding rings groom may kiss the bride. Young couple after the leaving the church is showered with rice or moneys. The bride takes her husband’s surname.

  6. Funeral • Family and friends the dead are dressed in black . Body Dead lie in a grave at the cemetery . On Grave people bring flowers. Everybody consist condolences nearest family of the deceased.

  7. The First Day of Spring ! The first day of spring is twenty-first of March. In this day people melt and burn madder. Destruction of madder meant fast coming of Spring. After the destruction of madder people are going back to the village with green twig .

  8. Ash Wednesday ! Ash Wednesday open the cycle of Easter , lasting to Pentecost. In this day people have sprinkled head ashes by the priest. Girls an bachelors take participation in folk games. In the evening are silence and calm.

  9. Palm Sunday ! Palm Sunday begins Holy Week . People hallow palm with twigs willow , hazel , reed and boxwood in the church. Many people the palms adorn ribbons and flowers from tissue paper. In Poland are organised competitions for the highest palm.

  10. Easter Sunday ! Families take part in resurrection. Then , they eat breakfast dedicated the in a basket by the priest. People spend this time with family on the fun and talk.

  11. Easter Monday ! Young bachelors pour water girls. The girls bestow young men small gifts , that mean intentions girls to bachelors. It is one of the most popular holidays of the year for young people.

  12. Pentecost ! People decorate homes,apartments, buildings, altars in the church and roadside shrine green twigs birch and linden. Inhabitants villages and towns participate in the mass. In this time sunny weather means good yields.

  13. Harvest Festival ! Created a pageant carts , in which transported are tools and machines . Before the pageant go girls with great nosegay. On the way musicians sing and play folk music. Girls give nosegay in hands host. He suspends it over the door the room. Then are meal and folk fun.

  14. Holiday of the armed Forces of the Republic Polish ! Holiday of the armed Forces of the Republic Polish celebrated on the 15th August . Holiday to commemorate the victorious Battle of Warsaw in 1920. In this day every year there is a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

  15. Independence Day ! Independence Day is the 11th November . This day was established to commemorate the recovery in 1918 independent country, after 123 years captivity by the Polish Nation.In this day every year there is a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

  16. Christmas Eve ! Family breaks the wafer and sits at the table on which is located 12 dishes. After supper the family give each other gifts left by Santa Claus. Everybody sing carols and are talking. The whole family goes to midnight mass to the church.

  17. New Year‘s Eve ! People in Poland spend this time for amusement . At midnight people say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new year fireworks and glass of champagne .
