  2. Relative Pronouns We know that pronouns are words that refer to a noun. Relative pronouns are called "relative" because they are "related" to a noun that has previously been stated.

  3. Ejemplos • ¿Quétipo de comidategusta? • What type of food do you like? • La queessabrosa. • Tasty food. • La querefers to the noun - • la comida which was previously stated.

  4. Relative Pronouns The relative pronouns el que, la que, los que, lasque are used to refer to both people and things. Note that there are four forms - singular and plural, masculine and feminine:

  5. Ejemplos • ¿Qué libro quieres? • What book do you want? • El que está en la mesa. • The one that is on the table. • El que refers to the noun - • El libro which was previously stated.

  6. Relative Pronouns • When the relative pronoun refers to an abstract idea, use "lo que". • No entiendolo quepasó.I do not understand what happened. • Lo quemás me gusta de Trinidad es la comida.What I like most about Trinidad is the food.
