Programme Overview STEMNET is a government initiative that creates opportunities to inspire, enthuse and excite young people about STEM This enables young people to develop their creativity, problem-solving and employability skills, widens their choices and will aim to support NI's future competitiveness W5’s role is to coordinate the STEM Ambassadors programme, ensuring local secondary schools are aware of the programme and can access STEM Ambassadors in their area

Programme Objectives • Excite young people about STEM • Give teachers a unique perspective on how the STEM curriculum can be applied to the world of work • Encourage young people to consider STEM careers and qualifications • Contribute to improved academic achievements in STEM subjects • Develop other employability skills including confidence, team work, problem solving and creativity

  6. Key Achievements: • Face to Face meetings all Post Primary Schools • Engagement events for over 50,000 young people • 98% of Post Primary Schools have accessed STEM Ambassadors over the past 12 months • Over 380 requests submitted by schools for support • Over 80% of requests successfully matched with STEM Ambassador/s • Over 1,400 STEM Ambassadors facilitated activities
