  4. ACT School Day • 7:00-2:15 Students may be dropped-off at 6:45 at the elementary door (south side of the building) • Breakfast over at 6:55 • Lunch 11:30-12:00 or 12:00-12:30 • Academics – Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Math • Behavior Classes – PEACE and 7 Habits Senate Bill 1, Chapter 31 established the academic provisions for students placed in DAEP – “Each school shall provide an alternative education program that focuses on English language arts, math, science, social studies, and self-discipline.”

  5. ACT Campus The ACT Campus is a grade K-12 building. Separate elementary and secondary academic programs and transportation. Lunch and breakfast are available. Students may bring their lunches. No caffeine sodas or energy drinks. All containers must be sealed. All medications must be provided to the nurse along with permission forms and doctors orders as needed.

  7. Academics & STAAR • District curriculum aligned with Community of Learners (COL) • Communication with home campus • All testing opportunities provided • STAAR testing/score reports sent to the home campus

  8. Transportation • Bus services are provided to and from residence. • K-5 students ride on elementary buses • Students K-2 must have an adult visible to the driver in order to be dropped off. *Repeated inability to drop-off K-2 student will result in bus privileges being terminated. • Call transportation if your student will not be riding in the morning. *Failure to contact transportation may result in bus privileges being terminated. • Second violation of bus safety rules by student will cause bus privileges to be terminated. • Call 972-968-6320 for transportation questions and to let drivers know when your student will not be riding the bus.

  9. Trespass Law • According to Texas state law, all school campuses, other than the ACT campus, are off limits to students during their placement period. This includes extra-curricular activities and after school programs. Students violating this law are subject to criminal trespass charges and further disciplinary action.

  10. Dress Code • White shirts/Khaki pants, shorts, skirts (shorts must be worn under skirt) • Shirts should be tucked in/belts are optional • Shoes should be solid color & have matching laces. • Sweaters/sweatshirts worn in the classroom must be white • Jewelry will not be worn/No nail polish • Cell phones are not permitted • All hair items should be white • No designs, symbols, letters or numbers may be shaved (cut) into the hair • Backpacks/purses are not permitted on campus • No extra money should be brought to campus • The Salazar Principal, Melissa Wesley, has the authority to make final determinations as to whether clothing or grooming is or is not within the CFB Dress & Grooming Policy

  11. Exiting from ACT15-30 or 30-60 days • Students exit on the Friday following completion of the placement days. • Review for release determined by the student’s behavior and documentation on the exit plan. • A letter of release will be in the final Friday folder

  12. How Do Parents Know if a Day is Successful??? • Daily communication from the teacher –the behavior folder • Phone calls from the teacher if the day is not successful • Phone calls from parents are always welcome • E-mails are also good ways of keeping in touch with the Salazar staff
