  1. Hydrocarbon Ratios for Q-L Segments of the DC-8, Intex-B By: Andy Latto

  2. Source Locations were determined by examining gridded sources for ARCTAS (Lat., Lon., Emmissions Grid. • Time from source was determined by the Q-L backward trajectories most recent encounter with a source, since most trajectories encountered more than one source over 10 days.

  3. There were a wide variety types of encounters with sources, although source locations were mostly E. Asia • I believe that height that the air parcel takes over a source region has an effect on the influence of the pollutants on that parcel • Many trajectories that passed above 400 mb over the sources were those that had lower pollution levels when they reached the DC-8 • Legs have been re-numbered due to some being defined by too few flight minutes. A total of 11 Q-L legs remain. • The spreadsheet containing all data used for these charts is attached to this email.

  4. Unaveraged Plots of Hydrocarbon Ratios 1 point represents a cannister measurement. All Q-L Legs 1,2, and 4 days are represented

  5. Legs 2,4,5,8,and 11 had CO values relatively higher than the Background

  6. Legs 2,4,5,8,and 11 had CO values relatively higher than the Background
