  2. What were the proposed cuts? • 4.3% cut in funding for adults 2011/12 • Removal of 1.2 programme weighting for ESOL and Literacy • Work-based ESOL no longer funded • Learner contribution rises to 50% • Learners on “inactive” benefits not entitled to fee remission

  3. Impact • 64% of adult ESOL students on “inactive” benefits • A further 80 students fees supported through discretionary ESOL LSF

  4. And... • 75% of those affected women • 15% of those attending in the daytime fee paying • 20+ FT/Fractional jobs under threat and 40+ Sessional
