  3. Meet Mrs. Morlino • I’ve been teaching art since I arrived from England in 2007. • I love living here in the U.S.A. • I have a Degree in art and design and a degree in Nursing science. I would like to start my masters in Education soon. • Until now I have taught k through 8th • One of the BIGGEST things you need to remember about me is that I, like all teachers are HUMAN! • I WILL mess up. Please don’t expect perfection.  I will remember that for YOU, too!

  4. “Meet” Mrs. Morlino’s Family My husband, Leonard is the First Sergeant in the United States Air Force. We LOVE going to all water events together, especially kayaking. My daughter, Ellie, is a sophomore at Moorestown high school this year and is excited and nervous about that. She’s into music (plays flute and piano) and drawing, and enjoys reading and sketching in her sketchbook. She is my favorite daughter (hehe jkjk) My daughter Madeleine, is entering high school this year. She is into anything ACTIVE ! As you can imagine she has been glued to the screen this summer watching the London Olympics. She plays the violin and is part of an orchestra. Her favorite subjects are math and gym class. She is is my favorite daughter, too!!!!

  5. Mrs. M’s general thoughts on Art.

  6. Opening Questions • What are you looking forward to? • What are you NOT looking forward to?

  7. Rules, rules and more rules. • What is a rule? • Can you think of a rule you have a home? • What rules do you have in your classrooms? What do you think is the point of having these rules? • Would anything get done without rules? • Is safety an important thing to have in the classroom? • What about respect? • What purpose do they serve?

  8. Mrs. M’s general art room rules. Who can spot them?

  9. Your Desk What to keep on your desk : Things you need all the time… Mrs. M. has all the supplies you will need here in the art room. These supplies will change from project to project so listen carefully to instructions so you are prepared. You will need to work as a team with your desk members. What not to keep on the desk or on your persons. -Anything other than what you are provided with by Mrs. M! All bags and belongings are to be left on the table at the door provided. No exceptions! -TOYS (or anything that you choose to play with in class) DO NOT BELONG AT YOUR DESK. Mrs. M. will be happy to hold anything that distracts you until the end of school. What not to do to the Art room desks. Mrs. Morlino is very fond of her furniture. If anyone is caught damaging the art room they will receive an immediate call home. Don’t let that happen…

  10. The Clean Art Classroom • Floor: • Must be clean before any of us leave for the day. • Seat and chairs either put up onto the table or pushed before you leave the art room. • Anything left on the floor may just disappear. • Desks: • Make sure nothing is left on the desks when you leave the Art room. All desks must be wiped down at the end of class.

  11. Mrs. M’s Stuff • What do you think the rules are about Mrs. M’s. Desk? • My desk is off limits. • You are not allowed to be at or near it without permission and please do NOT spend any time gazing at any papers I may have lying on it. • My teacher property is off limits • EXCEPT when you are given permission to get something out of it. • Please feel free to use the items I’ve left out on the sketch book and supply shelves. Please make sure all supplies are replaced in the same way you found them.

  12. Quickly and Quietly • Line up for switching • QUICKLY AND QUIETLY • Line up for supplies • QUICKLY AND QUIETLY • ANYTIME • QUICKLY AND QUIETLY WHY?

  13. Supplies • What do we mean when we talk about supplies? • Mrs. M has a very limited budget and Art supplies cost a lot of money. • What can you do to help look after the supplies we are lucky to have? • What difference will it make if you take care of the Art room supplies? • What will happen if you don’t?

  14. Bathroom • You are at school. Please use the bathroom at the designated times: • BEFORE you arrive to art class. • AFTER we finish art class. • Remember to SIGN OUT before you go. • Remember to take a pass. • If you have an emergency, signal with both hands in the air. • Why don’t I want you to leave class during lesson time?

  15. Telling Time • Mrs. M. knows how to tell time.  • Please wait until you are formally dismissed from class before you exit the classroom. • Look at Mrs. M’s clock. What does it say? • The less time we take to clean up the more time we get to create. • So what happens if we don’t clean up on time?

  16. Grades • For Art work • 60% of grade based on effort. 40% based on performance. Lets discuss this further.

  17. QUESTIONS • I will do my BEST to answer ALL questions and I will do so without making fun of you or the question. • Don’t be afraid to ask. • Any questions?  • Remember. In art, there are no mistakes…..only opportunities.
